Telangana government has launched ‘Power Ambulances’, a fleet of special vehicles to handle emergency power restoration services. These ambulances will operate in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits.

Designed like ambulances, these vehicles aim at ensuring immediate response and restoration of electricity during any interruption in power supply across the city. Speaking to the media after the inauguration, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said the first of its kind vehicles will be deployed in all divisions and will operate round-the-clock. He said whenever there is a disruption in power supply, consumers can call the toll-free number 1912, and emergency response teams will be sent out immediately.

Greater Hyderabad currently has 57 sub-divisions, and one vehicle will be allocated to each division. Each vehicle will be equipped with an assistant engineer and three linesmen, who will be on standby 24/7 with essential materials.

The vehicles are fully fitted with advanced tools, including thermal vision cameras, power ramps, ladders, insulators, conductors, cables and other necessary safety gear. They also have the capacity to tow transformers, allowing the staff to transport and replace them in a short time.
